You said his wording was offence right? He was talking about a feature common in black people and you said it may be offensive I'm guessing racially. So in a way one can interpret that as you accusing him as being racist.
There's a difference between me calling it offensive, and calling it racism. I know it's not racism ffs.
I agree. Getting drunk is fun, especially when you're in a loud environment with lots of people also drunk. Okay, so you wake up the next day feeling like a bus hit you, but so what? Just take some aspirin and go to bed. If you're lucky, you may even wake up feeling a little buzzed the next day. Just make sure it isn't before work, because that is the worst feeling ever, and you want to kill yourself. That is a mistake I will never make twice.
I think Owen is mature though for not wanting to get drunk at 17. There is a lot of pressure to get drunk at that age and if you don't, you're boring, as if you can't have fun at that age unless you're intoxicated in the middle of a dark field at 12am. I mean, if you're going to drink at 17, just get a fake ID and go to a bar like normal people do. Teenagers these days have no imagination.
As for going abroad on your own before 18 - I think that's fine if the person is mature enough. Plenty of people at that age are not. My first time going abroad without my mother was at 13, but that was part of a school trip to Paris.

When I was 17 (last few months), I went to university about 200+ miles from home. Not the same as traveling alone, but I was on my own. At least half of the people I knew left home like that.
Same here. Lots of foreign people from places like China or Cameroon getting away from their family with no hope of seeing them again before the end of the academic year, if not more.
