It’s been a ridiculously cold start to spring in Saskatoon, the coldest that I can remember.

The mean temperature for this first week of April is over 19C below the monthly average. This coming week is going to be warmer but still quite a bit below average, so if we don't get a massive warmup in the second half of the month this may very well beat April 2013 as the coldest April on record.

Unsurprisingly there's still plenty of snow lying around. We had a few days of above average temperatures in mid-March which helped melt some of it in the city, and even now with the cold temperatures some of the snow is continuing to melt thanks to the strong sun. But there are still places with a lot of snow on the ground in the city, and the surrounding regions outside the city still look like mid-winter.

I’ll be posting some pics in the photo thread soon.

We got a very light dusting of sleet today, and it's still in the 20s at noon. Our average high for today is 70. But once the clouds clear, it's supposed to warm into the 40s. Still, this is the coldest April weather I've ever experienced. The wind chill even dropped to single digits early this morning (but I was inside then).

Nice to hear and see others having the same situation. I was in Walmart this morning and 2 people talking about "how long this winter is and complaining about it". It's 42° at 1pm here. Consistent pattern not just 1-2 days worth.

1pmEST map..

The cold front has reached the gulf coast and just south of Atlanta.

Poor Florida not benefiting yet, the front should push south more next 48hrs

20s and 30s in Southern Plains with sun! Teens in Northern Plains. Cloudy and 40s in Mississippi.

I'm scared to look at the wind chills for the plains. Yikes.

Here are the current temp departures.. That is just impressive widespread 20-30 below normal. Wow.

Southeast view.

The rain just can't ever make this far south without any upper level support as it hits that force field just to my northwest. That thin line of heavy rain around 100 miles to my northwest will break apart and die out before it gets to me.

It's snowing fairly hard here, but it is melting as soon as it hits the pavement. It is starting to stick in the grass. Yesterday was in the low 60s and sunny. I'm over snow at this point and ready for spring weather.

That line of heavy rain is about 48 miles offshore from me. Lets pray it can hold together moving so fast we won't get much rain anyways. I will be shocked to get over .30"

Dang I sure wish I was living in NC already. It's cold there, can't wait for that kind of weather.

It already feels like summer here in FL. Has been hot and dry but humidity is increasing.
