Looks about the same but the northern plains is 30+ below normal. Record cold. Not sure how far off Alaska is.

3 Current Maps.. (I'd rather be in Kentucky or Virginia right now)

Snowing in Nebraska and Iowa with temps in the Teens. Insane. Single digits in North Dakota at lunchtime April 6th? Record cold for them.

Alaska and Western Canada

Northeast..

I bet that the way things are going, that hell might as well freeze over. No end in sight with all of this cold. I’ve given up most hope that it will ever be spring or summer again.

It would not surprise me if Alaska was still above average in temperature.

I'm going to go ahead and blame global warming. Freezing, it's the new warming.

You only say that because you have trouble believing it snows more because it's warmer.

Eastern North America has horrible delayed springs. At the end of February I was in Victoria B.C. Daffodils, plum trees and even some cherries blooming everywhere. This past week I was in Washington D.C., a full TEN DEGREES OF LATITUDE south of Victoria, and spring was only now catching up to where Victoria (and presumably Seattle, Portland, etc.) were at a MONTH ago. Now I’m back in Michigan (still 6 degrees of latitude south of Victoria) with no spring in sight at all. Just horrifically awful climate in the east. I hate it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if coastal Alaska gets spring before the Midwest/northeast.

More extreme precipitation events IS the new norm. Also, higher latitudes are still warming much faster than the rest of the globe overall.

We are running over 5°C above average the next week and are looking at potential record High's Tuesday and Wednesday, so it's not cold everywhere
