I take your post above to mean that you actually prefer the almost sub arctic winters of southern Minnesota over the balmy warm temperate winters of North Texas

Yes. Granted I prefer Texas winters over Florida's, winter is Texas' ugliest season, aesthetic wise. Weather is nice but it's all brown and dead looking and snow is short lived. November is the ugliest month here in Minnesota and Texas looks like that for 3 months. I much prefer a wintry snowy landscape.
Minnesota is not sub-arctic it's continental. It was 55 degrees at midnight in early December this year. Granted that was rare but in a true sub-arctic climate that wouldn't happen. It's nowhere near as cold here as people make it out to be. It's just as likely to be way above average as it is to be way below average. It's the Midwest, not Greenland.
Also just like MN is not sub-arctic, North Texas isn't balmy in winter either it's actually pretty chilly/cool. Where I lived (Denton) averages colder temps in winter than we do for October and April, both of which I would describe as cool months. It's not exactly Florida either lol.
Had a nice snowfall earlier. My back porch got a fresh new layer. Nothing much but it was pretty to look at. Now I am gonna get my jacket on and go for a walk in the fresh snow. Hope for some more inches tomorrow ❄
Nice!
I'm curious how your weather is in 2 days after that Arctic front comes through.. Please posts back your OBS.

.LONG TERM...(Thursday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 311 PM CST Wed Dec 20 2017
The first arctic front will pass through Friday night, but won`t
bring the bitter cold air yet. A clipper will be passing to the
north Saturday night, which will turn winds back southwest into
early Sunday. There could be some flurries or snow showers with
it, but it will be moisture starved originating from the very cold
air to the north. It may be milder Sunday morning ahead of the
front, such as low 20s, before the second arctic front passes through in the afternoon.
The coldest air will arrive Sunday night
and last through at least Tuesday. Highs within several degrees of zero and lows 5 to 15 below are expected during that period. High
pressure overhead Christmas night may allow some areas from
northern/central MN to northern and central WI to drop into the
20s below zero if winds subside a bit more than forecast.
Looking more likely that this week is a short relaxation pattern. After Christmas we dive down again into how it was before this week.
Here's the 10 day forecast for NYC per Euro model. Below freezing highs after Christmas and has a snow event on the 28th and again towards New Years Day

Why Gole getting colder lows than Ardahan is so fascinating to you?
Tell me. Sister to sister.
I just have interest in the town since it has the coldest lows in Turkey most of the time.
I want to visit Göle this winter but December is early for that. January is the best month since temperatures drop lower in January.
