Looked briefly at airline tickets to Manitoba for next weekend. 700 ****ing bucks due to Xmas... will have to wait till January.
There are climates like that, they are generally polar tundra, and are not supportive of human life or crops or other animals needed for food with no agriculture possible
Snow in Seoul, ROK today, about 8cm between midnight and 0800 KST. Temperature is about 1°C at 1500 KST in my pocket of Seoul. Lovely to walk to work in the snow this morning, having lived most my life in the San Joaquin Valley, CA seeing the snowcapped central Sierras (on an unpolluted day) but only experiencing snow on the valley floor once.
On another note, really hoping the cold and stormy models for the CONUS west coast hold true. I will be back home shortly through the first week of the new year, and will be taking a trip with my friends into the mountains for a few days. Nothing's more cozy than a cabin surrounded by snow.

Thanks for bringing up the only thing that could make me more sick than a December thaw . Down to 2" snow cover, and 37°.
I thought you would comment on the Steelers game but forgot I mentioned the rain there. Sorry. Pattern taking a break, it'll come back next week.

Yup.. and as much as I wanted a front loaded winter I didn't realize how it could spoil us. I agree, mid-upper 30s and 40s now will be like Summer and that's very typical to get around NYC any part of winter. Hope the cold snowy pattern lasts another 2 months.

Polar Tundra just sounds so cool to say. "Hey. I live in the Polar Tundra and am the only one around!"
