Close up of New England today. Areas and mountains getting hammered with snow right now. Expecting 6-10" in many spots. Looks like a wall at the MA border. lol
don't you wish you were in Vermont? we got flakes coming down hard but only for 20 minutes. Just gloomy in the mid 20s, cold air damming as the NWS Boston discussion said.
Didn't realize today's snow was mainly in northern New England
I see a 0F in Boston's forecast from WU, next Wednesday night.
Would be kind of rare, for sure doesn't happen every year.
But NWS only says 12F, that sounds much more realistic.
Not getting my hopes up about the 29-30th storm here, way too far out to tell yet.
I have -2°F for me; would be odd for Boston to be only 2°F warmer given it's by the coast. Possible suburbs reach 0°F if the airflow prevents any coastal influence.
This is from just now outside....tire tracks are from about an hour and fifteen minutes ago. There was still about 4" left over from last week on the grass/etc but the new stuff is coming in hard and heavy...and it's pure powder. For now.
Was gonna comment in the photo thread but since I seen it here, why not. AWESOME! Those tire tracks were perfect to get a perspective how deep it is.
4:10pm Map with temps. Upper 40s on Long Island, snowing & 20s in Hartford (lightly). Looks like precip filling in over MA now. Should changeover tonight.
Wonder how much Boston ends up with before the changeover.

You know what's interesting.. There's no amplified pattern, yet we're getting this cold. Typically we'll get the ridge west, trough east with arctic air flowing south inside the trough. but not this time..
I think that's telling us that the airmass is impressively cold at the mid levels vs having the Upper levels cold?
Boston Data from the Euro.. The 30-31 will depend on that big storm track. Latest has it very close to Boston hence the warmth it shows. Single digit lows there Thurs-Fri-Sat
