Interesting comparison of altitude as I mentioned in a previous posts; coldest midlevels was yesterday morning shown by the summit temperature but coldest valley temperatures this morning when the wind died and radiational cooling was greater. Whitefield is an airport station near Mt. Washington. And Mt. Washington is… well hopefully you know what it is.
Today, Whitefield, NH had a low while, Mt. Washington had a low of -29°C today with 79 mph winds
As for current temperatures:
Whitefield, NH is -16°C at 12:55 pm, Mt. Washington is -20°C at 12:55 pm. Wind is 39 mph out of the west [more zonal flow]
24 hour lows for northern New England and 'Dacks in °C. -45°C gotta be an error.
doesn't match mine cause this is the last 24 hours. Above was since midnight today. Mt. Washington has been slowly warming as the midlevels rise, coldest was at 10 am yesterday shown in a previous post
Saranac Lake dropped down to -29 F/-34 C this morning but it's already above 0 F. End of the week has a forecast high of 46 F/8 C. That's a 75 degree swing! Thursday night could also remain above freezing (forecast low of 36 F/2 C).
The lowest windchill recorded was -41 F/-41 C (yesterday morning).
Looking at the new Euro coming out...Next Storm.. GLC!! We must share the white gold I guess.
This is for Friday morning this week.
Storm comes from the southern Plains and heads to the Great Lakes (GLC = Great Lake Cutter). This ALWAYS brings in a surge of warm air East of the storm.
Saturday morning has it right over Detroit. So would be snowing NW of the storm while warm surge for New England AND Rain. This is when the Southeast would be cooler than New England as the cold air pushes south as the storm departs into Canada.
It was 53F here at noon and forecast high of 59F. A bit of light rain.
There could be a decent amount of rainfall tonight, possibly with thunder. Flash flood watch even issued for southeast Louisiana. Over 3 inches forecast for New Orleans. About an inch here.
Anthony with some sarcasm. The January thaw is short lived and signs of cold air still pouring down after this week.
Im still calling for early Spring.. starting mid February we go well above normal in East with 60s in March up to MA.. Its feels weird to get 2-3 full months of deep cold & snow thats why say that.

Currently here at Aurora, ME...7F Degrees, Dew Point -6F Degrees, Winds WNW 6mph, Cloudy. Windchill 0! Almost feels balmy compared to last night!
Re-mounted our Mailbox...Grateful for new ideas and also conversations and stories! Mostly, grateful that because of the weather, we had some much needed time off from work (began to feel like we were gleaning our own straw for the bricks)!
Here's to the drawing of the drapes upon this day, good night's sleep and sweet dreams!
Looks like cold should be returning here on Friday. TWC is calling for a lows in the mid 20's F on Saturday and Sunday.
