All India in North Oakland has a great buffet. I've heard great things about Udipi in Monroeville. My girlfriend had Bangal in Oakland and wasn't impressed at all.

Outside the city, but Udipi in Monroeville, is excellent.

I'm Indian and we prefer Mintt in Mt Lebanon, Café Delhi in Carnegie or Tamarind in Oakland. Would pretty much not step into the others.
Udipi in super authentic and we love it for vegetarian home-style fare.

Have you tried Taj Mahal chocodusk? I honestly didn't even know I liked Indian food until my GF took me there. Love it. If it's not even worth stepping into I guess I need to try your 3 suggestions.

I ate regularly at Sree's when I used to work in town, she has a location on Murray Ave. as well.

Cafe Delhi in Carnegie is part of the Indian Community Center and we love their food. We mainly do take out but it is a nice, open and well lit space. Love the gobi manchurian.

Living in the south hills...we never got to Udipi, but I'd love to try it. Have to get to Monroeville somehow...

And will try Mintt, thanks for the recommendation.

Default B52 Cafe open

The B52 Cafe is continuing their soft opening this week, Tues-Fri 7-3 and Sat-Sun 8-3. Open 7 days starting January 18th. Located at 5202 Butler St. I've only had the Falafel, which was wonderful. Anyone else try this yet?

I've had some experience with that kind of opinion. It seems to vary by what part of India the person or their family is from. I can never remember the details but maybe if somebody made some flash cards.
