Wouldn't you be considered "away from home" if you are in the process of relocating to Phoenix?

You misunderstood what I said. CT doesn't allow early voting at all. But I personally said that I don't believe in early voting, even if it was available.

I don't have much to add, except to wish you luck and I agree about dumping or selling most of your stuff before moving. I'm strongly considering a move from NY to AZ sometime next year and all I would bring is my cat, TV, computer, and clothes.

Well, you don't have to move in the next five weeks, so if it is important to you to participate, that really isn't a barrier to moving.

I can certainly wait until mid November if I have to. Like I said, if gives me a bit more time to think, prepare and make it happen, as well as saving a bit more money. I may have $27K by then.

Btw, is Phoenix a conservative area? I am not a conservative person, with most matters. I am a homosexual atheist voting for Obama. Would that be a problem in PHX?

These questions have been discussed a lot here. Metropolitan Phoenix is not as conservative as it used to be, but the numbers still lean that way. The wild card is the huge number of independent voters, who run the gamut from one end of the spectrum to another. Central Phoenix and Tempe tend to be more liberal areas and somewhat more gay friendly. That said, for the most part, people here in metro Phoenix tend to have a live and let live attitude; most neighbors don't care much about their neighbor's politics. If you are a good neighbor, you should be able to do fine anywhere.

I moved just before 9/11 and did not have a job lined up. I had NO response from anyone when I sent resumes from out-of-state. When I got here, I temped for a bit and then got a "real" job just 2 months later. I am not sure I would do it now, though, with the economy the way it is. But it sounds like you have plenty saved up.

Like the others, I would recommend selling as much stuff as you can. If I had it to do over, I would have sold everything and started over.

For a young, single professional, I would suggest Scottsdale or Tempe. I lived in Gilbert and IMO it's very family-centric and far away from the action.

So, it's been 11 years for me and I'm still here and love it. It is a drag having to spend most of my PTO on visiting family back in my hometown though (they won't come here.)

Good luck!

Why would questioning comments that lean more towards trolling than a question or on topic comment be a personal attack?
