The gap between rich and poor in a country is shown in whats called a GINI coefficient. Low number = less difference between rich and poor. (CIA world Factbook)

Norways got 0,25. America has 0,45, on par with countries like Cameroon, Uganda and Cambodia.
It was in one of their newspapers over there, I'll see if I can find it. They did say it's getting worse, so maybe the last couple years its changed.

Yeah, they call the one I'm in a coop but its more expensive and they are nasty people. Small town friendliness, haha. Someday I'd like to have an off grid solar set up,but I suppose I'll get that when donkey's fly. I have seen some articles on making a solar water heater, I'm not handy enough to make one though.

Years ago, we had one electric, and one gas company for the whole country. Then Thatcher
decided we needed competition. We now have dozens of companies supplying gas and
electric. They deliberately make it almost impossible to work out what you are paying per
unit. The bills are very confusing. So much per unit for the first amount of gas used, then a
different price for the rest. When one puts up the price, the rest follow. Plus they have deals where the price is frozen if you sign a long term deal. Plus many of the companies are
foreign owned. The price has gone so high here, many people are really struggling to pay the
bills.

Yeah, same thing happened here with the phone company. Once again, Margaret Thatcher
decided British Telecom (BT) should be sold off to the public. We already owned it!!! People
bought shares, and big companies made a killing. Boy, that woman is despised here by many.
She ran amoc in the 80s, decimated the steel industry, mining, manufacturing in general.
Many areas of this country have still not recovered from her brand of economics. The only
time we saw a bit of humanity was when her darling little boy Mark was lost in Africa.

I, as a taxpayer, do not owe a profit to a private company
to perform a government function.

I like AT & T!! When I was in Atlantic City in 1988, I rang my first wife Patsy from a
casino. At the end of the call, the bird at AT & T came on the line and said "please
put another $2 and 30 cents in the pay slot." So I did - well she had a nice voice. She
then said "thank you for using AT & T!" I was well impressed, she thanked me for using
the phone. Never happens here............

When people get riled about outsourcing. Don't they realize that it is our government and our workers who make that more appealing to companies?

I've had small businesses with employees and businesses have a lot of risk and pay a lot of money. There are the start up costs, taxes, insurance, property taxes, workman's comp, disability, employees benefits, double the FICA that employees get, health benefits, retirement benefits, paid vacation days and holidays, maintenance, leasing equipment, loans to be paid back. etc.,etc., etc. And after all that is paid you get employees who don't want to work...they make phone calls, play on the computer, don;t give there full attention to the job and then they have the nerve to complain about their job

So yeah...I hate that companies outsource but I understand why.

I know not all employees are bad workers and I know some companies really take advantage of employees but I get tired of the one sided views all the time.
