Well, I like the porch, fish or no fish, and I couldn't shoot anything that came that close to the house unless it brought danger with it, I'd enjoy it too much just watching it visit, so the porch suits me just fine.

ElkHunter, with all your body's been through I'd be surprised if you hadn't had more days like that!

So glad for the long weekend and time to get outside, rain or no rain.

Now I know why I was getting all that sleep. Running a temp of 102°. Woke up about 1am, sick. I didn't need this.

Thankfully it was the 24 hour variety, ate a good supper and I am feeling pretty good.

Glad to hear that! I think you've been through quite enough health wise to last for a long time!

We had a snow storm last night that was bad enough to knock out power until this afternoon. Our power and stuff is all underground, so the storm must have knocked out a main line on the towers coming in to the transformer compound outside of town.

We only got about 4 inches of snow, but it provided 2 inches of water. Heavy!

I covered everything in the garden, but I think its going to be a loss. Weather guessers are saying 23° for a low tonight. I went ahead and picked everything that was close. Elevation of my cabin is 3970 ft.

Snowed here last night down to about 4400 feet. Not much of it but enough to see. The webcam up at Two Medicine Bridge showed a total whiteout. Cleared off this evening and we're predicted at 24 degrees. Won't be surprised if it makes it.

came across an old picture post card from the '50's and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it. a small man is seated on a steam powered engine with a thrashing machine behind it. the printing at the bottom of the photo read:

BUILT BY L. S. SMITH
Plentywood, Montana

very interesting photo. just thought if there might be family members still around they might like to have it. please contact me at susanewood53@yahoo.com . thank you!

ElkHunter, so what was growing in the garden? Greens and such? I have no idea what ppl up north grow in the Fall. If it's not going to survive, that's going to be a big loss. Hope it's not too much.
