I think most reasonable people didn't agree with Johnson's initial direction. However, by all reports he was acting on the advice of the scientific advisors he has in his service. There was certainly no malice on his part, perhaps some degree of stupidity. Suggesting that it was karma that he caught the virus may beget some bad karma in and of itself.

I don't believe in karma. But I do believe that stupidity might well catch up with the person practicing it.

Are you willing to keep the economy shut down until a vaccine is ready? Because herd immunity is the only real alternative we've got. Masks (Real masks, not the stupid face coverings people are doing) and Social distancing might slow the spread but it won't stop it. It's just too contagious.

Yes massechusetts has more cases then other states but while other states are removing their restrictions mass is increasing it with mandatory mask wearing. Get ME OUT OF THIS STATE!

My guess when charlie baker says masks will be a way of life he might require them for a year or more!

Why do you think we need to keep the economy shut down forever, in order to slow the spread? Many of the countries that got hit earlier are already in the process of re-opening, the key is not doing it too soon. Sure a 2nd wave is likely, we will deal with that when it comes.

Agree with this 100%. The political winds around this seem to imply that Dems enjoy being shuttered inside, and lots of people being out of work, while Repubs stand up for "liberty". We don't see this dynamic in any of the other Western countries that have been afflicted.

Does kind of seem inevitable unless herd immunity has kicked in. Which we can't tell but I suspect the % that already has antibodies is very high.

So now there’s an order to wear masks in MA correct?

It’s interesting. I’ve noticed in areas like Roslindale and Hyde park people have been wearing masks for weeks as they drive their cars and walk the streets. Then I go to a place like Milton or duxbury and no one has on a mask as they walk about. Hyde park has had high numbers yet people have been wearing masks for weeks. Duxbury/Milton/Medfield all have low numbers and no masks. Are the masks really working? Or are the people in Hyde park not really socially distancing the way they should be? Everyone keeps saying the more affluent areas are filled with people who can’t stay home and work from home but why don’t these folks wear masks when they’re out for a walk or run ?

All I can think of are the sidewalks being more crowded in the city.

Got to speak to my sis for a while tonight. She’s an RN at one of the major Boston hospitals. She told me that hospitalizations are dropping and they are starting to empty out a lot of the makeshift ICUs that were set up weeks ago. They are keeping them available in case there is a resurgence, but the overall feeling is one of progress being made.
