Yes, the scale is indeed unprecedented for most people alive today. If you were alive in 1918 not so much.

Maybe you should take one. The current situation is an emergency...equivalent to a war.

They believe this policy-induced reduction in demand will not manifest into sustained reduction in demand. I also believe there are other things at play too, such as take home pay increasing (in some cases) for workers most impacted or a failure to understand how much Fed intervention was required to maintain market liquidity or their only source of "news" is s__t propaganda.

The commentary tossed your way is not people suggesting intervention isn't required, it's that you don't understand how that intervention fundamentally works.

Indeed. A complete lack of macroeconomic knowledge and the pros/cons/limitations of a strong central banking system.

But hey, CD isn't the place for intellectual discourse. Most refuse to read, and instead rely on television.

And, no, its not akin to a war. Wars are actually quite profitable for the U.S. One of, if not the, largest exports of the U.S. are weapons/weapon systems. Wartime economies are often booming in the U.S. Very different. Maybe history classes are also needed.

timberline, even the top 100 smartest economists in the world are stumped as to what the correct answer/response is to this unprecedented pandemic. I can't imagine the same genius who just a month or two ago saw this as nothing more than a great opportunity to score cheap travel, would know better than them...
