This is all nice and good but until we see some more borders open and travel and more student visas issued I don't think it will really be "normal". Africa and latin america are still way behind.

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/c...-distribution/

We have to open the border with canada soon, this makes no sense. They have nearly 3x the vaccination rate as Mexico and hat border has been open for awhile now.

The calculator shows 14 months on average for the average of global herd immunity but it depends. Algeria has hardly done anything and it's right by france (I could go on about the war back in the day, Nigeria the superpower of western Africa 10 more years!

Like I said before this is like 1943 in WW 2. The tide has turned but it isn't over.

.

I'm glad to learn that the Canadian border decision is unilateral.

My work still requiring masks for now. There's a survey circulating asking for vaccination status.

I am looking forward to going out with coworkers to lunch. I imagine as weather gets better and outdoor seating is available we can start to do that again. Right now a few of us are awaiting our 2nd shot (myself included) so perhaps not yet.

We just got an email saying that the company recommends that we begin developing plans for returning in early January 2022. So as I suspected this new mask guidance did not speed up an earlier office return.

As one of Boris Johnson's predecessors, Winston Churchill, said in October 1942:
"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

I wonder if some companies are planning on their being an uptick given the upcoming guidelines. There's still a lot we don't know and as many have pointed out not everyone is vaccinated.

I believe that companies, health providers, and the state will continue to monitor the cases. If it goes up to a certain point, we'll see some restrictions come back into place.
