I am in between jobs right now so I have nothing better to do. My car could use the miles. I am going to see if there is a way I can re-schedule my second dose somewhere closer. Not the end of the world if I can't.

Make another account on the vaccine registration and/or check out Walgreens or CVS the week before the second appointment. You do need to make sure that you get the same brand.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that new daily cases in MA have been dropping by about 300 from day to day for three consecutive days (and the latest figure was a little under 1,000 for the first time in a long time). Could we maybe entertain a hopeful thought that this might be the beginning of the end of the plague? I'll be getting the secomd dose of Pfizer at the end of this week, but am not changing any of my behavior until the new daily cases in MA are in low double digits.

It always seems like the end of the plague until some new variant pops up in another part of the world. Now there's the new variant in India. And India is huge, of course, so even if they have vaccinated 1% that still leaves many, many millions unvaccinated.

I hope we have a quarantine or a ban on flights from India, but even if we do, pretty soon it will be somewhere else and something else new. We just have to keep going and guarding ourselves from the new variants, hoping that the rest of the world catches up one of these days.

My neighbor was telling me today she is fully vaccinated but she's still worried. Mostly worried that she could give it to someone else

She's also worried about her sons wedding. It was scheduled for last July at some hotel on Boston. They rescheduled it to July, same hotel, 220 people invited and it has to be inside. I don't know what the situation will be like for indoor events in 3 months.

The India variant, a double mutation, is worrisome. It's spreading like wildfire there, and from what I hear the situation is dire (the medical infrastructure is decidedly inferior to the West). I understand it's already been detected in California. But to your point, we ought to be restricting travel to/from.

I just keep my eye on hospitalizations. I'll feel better when we're solidly on the downslope and feel comfortable resuming more normal activities once we're at the low we were at last summer. It's frustrating that we're stuck at 700 (+/- 20) for the past 2 weeks.

It's too early to make anything of the dropping numbers right now. Testing is always lower on weekends, and it may have extended to Patriot's Day (meaning today would still be part of the weekly dip reporting weekends). That doesn't mean we're not dropping, but day to day results are super noisy.

We hit 50% with at least one vaccine today, we should see numbers start to go down is Israel is any indicator.

Arm is a little sore after the first dose. Can't wait for the second one... I picked up some clear card protectors off Amazon. Hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow.

You should try hanging around a nearby CVS. Twice my husband has run into CVS to grab something and a pharmacist has asked if he has had the vaccine and if not, if he'd like one. I guess when they have some downtime and extra doses, they just ask customers in the store if they need a vaccine.
