Looks like they're pretty much in line with what we've been seeing for the past 2 weeks or so. Percent positive in the mid-upper 1%, but significant number of tests so an increase in cases is not surprising.

You know, I wonder if Charlie's "stop the spread" testing plan was really a plot to drive the % positive rate down. Pretty smart if so. Even assuming that, there's still no reason to think there was any kind of real uptick or something resembling a second wave.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen numbers in the 400s. It’s mostly been in the 200s.

Saw that AMC has reopened all of their movie theaters in the area except for the one in Somerville.

Despite yesterday's uptick (431 cases), the 7-day positive rate is now 1.2% which is very good. Just saw that NY has been <1% for 15 days straight now, but has been under a stricter lockdown (e.g. gyms remain closed). Given the amount of in & out traffic from NY state, this is truly remarkable.

I wonder if at least the counties that make up Greater Boston should consider taking a step back and closing gyms & indoor dining. I know the pain this would cause during the coming months, but it seems to me to be a pro-active countermeasure to the potential spread from the 170,000 college students who have still descended on the area (yes...this is down from 250,000 but still a lot).

That's because of the additional testing. You might get a couple more positives but the %+ is going to go down because those initiatives attract people who aren't positive and thus the rate goes down. Would have been nice if they had also tested for antibodies, but alas.

There was also a large party at holy cross where so far one person has tested positive.

I’m sorry but yesterday’s numbers seem bad. Seems inevitable that this is going to continue spreading and not go away. Can’t hide from this forever.
