Maybe, but it seems obvious that the friend didn't know.

Right. I’d feel awful too...but it seems like this is similar to passing on a cold or flu even though you might be asymptomatic.

And you Conn they'd just evicted a group of students for having parties. Schools to control students pretty well with off campus they can't. So if they have in the walk in the class and they don't have their vaccines then what?

I was in China back in 08 in one thing they made abundantly clear is after leaving it that if you had any exposure to poultry you would be taking the side. At one point we were at a rural area and I did see chickens but I just got the hell out of it. As for catching things generally speaking I don't get cold very often but one time I went to this work-related meeting and this woman who shall not be named repeatedly sneeze and didn't even cover her mouth I caught her called I knew right then and there that yes you can catch things directly from people's like that.

Some of this is getting complicated. You know what's happening with students we don't exactly know what's happening with elderly people but one thing on the horizon is the homeless. Remember those bad days when we used to house homeless people in hotels? They're back!, from what I've been reading recently is that father Bill's Place is looking to get additional space as social distancing limits what he can do in his own buildings. There's arguments now with Weymouth about putting them in a given Hotel the hotel itself is not in good shape and the owners had violations for quite some time.

This could be the weirdest fall where students can go to school and yet were footing the bill to put homeless people in hotels. Hotels might be good for short term but not for long term there's no reason for anybody to ever really be in a hotel for more than a few weeks at most. Hotels are not generally made for education and you can cook in most hotel rooms so we end up putting people in the situation where they end up beating low-quality meals and lack access. I would make a strong argument that hotels and not a form of housing hotels are short-term vacation areas that can have a few little things but they really should not be used long-term. I remember back in those days seven or so years ago staying at a hotel and Greenfield with a friend and he made the argument of looking around a neighboring hotel was loaded with homeless people. Of course the other thing is if they looking for some type of long-term amenities and access to social services at what point are those empty business buildings in Boston going to be turned into a homeless shelters and public housing?

Way I read it was those who are remote, or object for religious and medical reasons are exempt. Only in-person are required to get it.

Doesn't affect us either way as our kids get the flu shot. I'm 50/50 on it. Most of the time I don't get it, but this year I will. If this was any average year it would just depend on what sort of mood I am in.

Nope. “Elementary and secondary students whose schools are pursuing remote-only models this fall are not exempt.”

Children who are formally home schooled (officially disenrolled from traditional school) are exempt.

If you are remote schooling, why would it be mandatory? That makes no sense.

Overall it seems like many folks are relaxing. Definitely not on this forum though. I’m surprised by how fearful some here are but I don’t know the full stories. I can see being nervous if you were exposed to covid and knew about it...I’m just trying to have some sense of normalcy since so many decisions are being made for me right now as far as school, work, or even visiting the library goes.
Not relaxing here.

Me, age 50+ with MS and middle daughter with T1D (and other compromised immune system....) just not ready for it. I see people on our bike path without masks, or running on the paths, and it makes me concerned as the numbers keep holding (or rising). I want my kids to go to school - high school and colleges. Ill do what it takes to make it safe for them.

I suppose if we were healthy without kids, maybe... But not now - and don't know when.

Going indoors to eat, we would not enjoy it. not yet.

Because as a public health thing, you want as many people vaccinated as possible to protect those who can’t tolerate the vaccine or who aren’t vaccinated. 18 and under is a Petri dish whether they’re remote schooling or not. Under age 5 is much higher health risk with flu so you want all the school age children who are around them to be vaccinated.
