We actually did venture out to eat last night and went to 3 different restaurants before we found a place that had no wait. It's crowded out there.

We were on the cape this weekend. Did take out at a popular local restaurant and it was packed wall to wall. Bar was packed. Tables were not distanced, and you had to brush by people just to walk through. It was definitely like old times.

By the beginning of June if they keep the current weekly pace they are on they would be at almost 4 million with at least one dose, and there's roughly 5 million adults. I'm not even sure that many will take it.

That's not even including Novavax which has a chance of being approved by then.

We got to Step 3 Phase 2 in October. Charlie said at the beginning that was as far as they were going to go without a vaccine or very effective treatment.

Unless a variant pops up which the vaccines don't work against, yes.

You'd still need a mask I assume. My current guess is September for the mask mandate.

We went to brunch at a spot in Boston on Saturday that was like that. The website advertised that they were at 25% capacity, but inside was a different story. Full bar (though there were plexiglass dividers separating sets of 2 barstools), un-spaced tables (each of which was full), and people clustered in groups outside of the restaurant waiting (90+ minute wait). I was surprised to see it.

The most jarring experience we've had to date was in Rhode Island. A couple of weeks ago we had a reservation at Tilted Barn Breweing (have always wanted to go) which does it the right way. Widely spaced tables (like 10+ feet of space between), reservation only, masks required when servers approach and/or when leaving the table for any reason, asking permission to browse merch, and 3 seatings per evening. We were early so we decided to try another small nearby brewery with a patio, but when we walked in to get drinks, it was just like old times. Seat yourself at big communal tables (not spaced), stand in line to order from the bar. It was so full that all of the seats at tables were occupied as were the barrels around the room where people were standing. People who couldn't get a seat or a barrel were just standing in any open space, and the line for beer was long and not spaced. Nobody limiting people from coming in and nobody managing the crowds. We took one look and left.

We had a table of 9 near us at the restaurant we ate at on Saturday. They came in at the end of our meal. I guess there will be more of this to come.

People are definitely ready to go back to normal. Those numbers are only going to increase as more people get vaccinated.
