Some pics during my travels this morning on my way to work.. Started as a rain/mix near the coast at 7am then turned to all snow for next few hours. Was big wet flakes near coast then changed to finer flakes north more as the temps were couple degrees colder.. Some points it came down pretty hard where visibility was less then 3/4 mile.

Looks like total 1.5" accumulated overall. Streets weren't bad but got slushy on backroads.

Bigger storm Thursday. Surface temps this morning were 35 degrees but the layer above us wasn't warm enough to melt it falling down.

This is the time of year the East Coast is one strange place: Its snowing up in Vermont and it's in the upper 20's...rainning in NYC/New Haven and near 40 F...and it's 70 in Richmond, VA. Don't worry, we in Connecticut should still be too warm for anything more than some wet flakes up in the northern half of the state. Right now just rain on the coast here east of New Haven.

March 24, 2011 Storm Update:

My personal opinion is Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Northern Middlesex, Northern New London, All of Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland, Windham will see a chance at half foot. 4-6" generally.

The rest of the southern CT state should see 2-4".

Parts of MA "could" see 10 inches.

As always with weather (especially in late March) we have to keep a close eye on it because things can change. Warm air can filter in or the trough can go negative throwing back Atlantic moisture into cold air creating bigger precip totals.

It wont be a Blizzard.
It wont be a foot of snow
It wont be sunny
It wont be all rain for everyone

Some are saying it will be a Major Snowstorm, I am not buying that! That would be nuts.

I was suprised that March has been a dry month - we need the rain despite the recent flooding. The rain seems to be making the grass green down here at the coast at least. Tue should be sunny and near 50 F.
