Did the backdoor cold front actually reach most of CT and even NYC? The pattern of hi temps for today from OKX seems to suggest it. I know after today it warms up again until midweek.

Also, looks like Tropical Storm Ana may head this way, but looks like just a lot of rain for Tuesday and not much else (i.e. very weak by then)

I love living right near the shoreline. The seabreezes have been amazing. Have not hit 80 here yet. The nighttime temps have been great.
lol. Some spots just north of BDL in MA (Chicopee) also hit 90 or 89 so that part of the valley got torched.

I agree about being near the coast in Spring but even mid-upper 70s is well above normal there. We need to pray this doesn't stick around for Summer. Lots of heat waves and real feel of 100s with this type of setup we been having.

I believe clouds are the reason we're staying 65-75. Still above normal north of the coast.

It's in the mid 70s in central PA and NY at 10am right now. (Sun). Still VERY warm at 4000 feet so these clouds are preventing us from heating up at the surface

Quick check... May 1 - May 8.

Albany and BDL Average max temp almost 80°? WOW.

I will have more numbers after Tuesday. Since we have 2 more hot days coming might as well include them.

I'm kind of surprised at the near and above 90 in Rochester and Buffalo the last 2 days given the lake. Not that it's impossible for them this time of year, but just considering how the ocean is cooling things down here.

Also, how often is western NY State virtually the hottest part of the US? Wow! (Only hotter temps I see on that max are just a couple of degrees warmer in FL and TX)

It's nuts! I'm telling ya, this type of setup with the Ridge, Very Warm Aloft, Very dry ground will mean extended heat waves and triple digits in July. In fact, look at the extreme temps for locations in July... that would be tested with this setup.

I don't think anyone wants to see that. Lets hope it doesn't happen again or stay this way.

latest Euro for DXR. As we been saying, we got 3 more days of Summer, then finally a break and back to normal mid week!!

1 good thing is that they once showed it was just 1 day. Then 2 days. Now normal looks like its Wednesday to Sunday! Then right back to Summer Monday 18th.
Bad news... Where's the rain?

What a gradient. I believe its due to the winds out of the East? Ocean is still very cold. My sister in Boston said its been cold there.

My max temp here was 64 today. KHVN reporting the same.

I heard from a friend who traveled yesterday from the Hartford area to the New London area. He said his car thermometer said 89 in Hartford and an hour later it was 56 in New London.

Max temps today. That 92 we saw earlier stands in Rochester. Power of south flow?

For 7 wishes. From NWS Buffalo

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
147 PM EDT SAT MAY 9 2015

TEMPERATURES...
THE AIRMASS HAS CHANGED LITTLE DURING THE PAST 24 HOURS...SO
850MB TEMPERATURES THAT AVERAGED CLOSE TO 16C FRIDAY WILL REMAIN
IN THE MID TEENS FOR TODAY. AT 925 MB...SHORT RANGE ENSEMBLES
SUGGEST TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 20S CELSIUS. THESE VALUES ARE
SOME 2 TO 3 STANDARD ABOVE NORMAL. GIVEN AT LEAST PARTIAL SUNSHINE
AND FULL MIXING...THIS SHOULD SUPPORT HIGH TEMPS IN THE UPPER 80S TO
NEAR 90 ONCE AGAIN
INLAND FROM THE LAKES. THE BACKGROUND SYNOPTIC
SCALE FLOW IS WEAK ENOUGH AGAIN TODAY TO ALLOW LAKE BREEZES TO
DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON WITH STRONG DIFFERENTIAL HEATING...KEEPING
ALL THE LAKESHORES COOLER.

THIS WILL LIKELY TRANSLATE INTO ANOTHER ROUND OF RECORD
TEMPERATURES FOR WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEW YORK. RECORDS FOR
TODAY INCLUDE...BUFFALO (82/2014)...ROCHESTER (89/1979) AND
WATERTOWN (84/2014). SURFACE WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE MORE
SSW THAN SOUTHWESTERLY...SO LAKE BREEZES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO
TEMPER THE MERCURY AT BUFFALO AND WATERTOWN AIRPORTS
.

THE WARM AIRMASS WILL ALSO MEAN THAT WE WILL HAVE A SUMMERY NIGHT
TONIGHT
WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY DROPPING TO THE LOWER TO MID 60S.
LIKE THEIR DAYTIME COUNTERPARTS...THESE VALUES WILL BE NEARLY 20
DEGREES F ABOVE NORMAL
