Another look at the dewpoints for CT. This time with the co-op sites.

Wilton a muggy 64. BDL down to 48 now. Hamden at 62. There's a haze to the air today here.

Interesting conversation between Weatherworks and Ryan..

WW: "Some rather strong sea breeze fronts moving into NJ, LI, NYC & CT. this aft'n Could make a run at Hartford?"

Ryan: "it should"

WW: "That's pretty rare...will be interesting to watch. Skies are clearing rapidly (CU dissipating) south of the boundary."

Ryan: "not too rare with a very light gradient. Nothing to stop the density current. Becomes less visible on radar as beam gets high"

WW: "Very true, although the marine air-mass should gradually "wash out" approaching Hartford. Guessing T ↓ 3°F... Td ↑ to 57-60°"

Ryan: "yeah that sounds about right. The Tgradient weakens quickly. Many summer days around 4p you'll see HFD drop while BDL doesn't"

Well, last year my car shows 105 while Central Park hit 112 (not exact). Two years ago in the second to last week of June we hit 110.

This is my first summer on the East Coast ( I arrived in April) and I can tell you that to someone from the UK 78 F is hot ! Lol.

It is quite interesting to experience tropical type weather here on the lowlands of the East Coast. Back home it was rare to feel tropical weather conditions. ALso, I've noticed that the sun REALLY feels strong here. We had more daylight in summer, but our one seems to burn here quite quickly. I can't imagine what the sun strength in the tropical provinces to the south are like (places like Florida or Louisiana).

I'm already sunburned and have been in the pool several times, I feel like a real American!

Car thermometers always read high in sunny weather i know mine does.
It has never been anywhere near 112 here. Central Park hit 106 in 1936 and 104 a few times (most recently in 2011 when Newark hit 108). CT state record is 106 in Danbury in 1995

Interesting. I always love hearing others perspective on our weather here. There are a few UK folks on the Weather forum who post regularly and it always sounds cool and cloudy. I would love to see your posts throughout the seasons.

It hasn't. The record max temp in Connecticut was 106°. It did "feel like" over 100 many times. Last year July 19, 2013 the heat index peaked at 107° in Hartford.

As 7wishes said, Car thermometers aren't accurate especially when parked or in sun. Central park hit 112?? They never got past 106 in history (since late 1800s)

Some spots that haven't hit 90F/32C yet this summer. Pittsburgh, NYC, Bridgeport, Islip, Concord, Utica, Hartford, check out the rest.

Will Hartford finally hit 90 this week? If not the next chance comes after mid July.
