Just received an email from ECU's box office saying that the traveling "Sesame Street Live" group show will be in town at Minges Coliseum in late May. It may not seem like a lot, but being able to bring in national acts like Sesame Street and the Globetrotters does help enhance the quality of life in Greenville. Hopefully more acts will be attracted to the arena.
It's good to see ECU allowing other acts to use the arena. I still wish that there could be a new arena built in conjunction the city and ECU. Multi use that would allow for ice shows, hockey, ECU, regional basketball tournaments, concerts, even traveling broadway shows. Maybe one day.
Anyone know what is being built on 33 going out of town just past Copper Beach and before you get to Brook Valley? Both sides of the road are seeing action. I'm betting it's multi-family housing but not sure. I don't know if we can take any more apts / condos through that stretch - it's already way too congested.
If you're talking about the construction entrances that have the little flags across the top between poles, it's where NCNG is laying new natural gas piping from Greenville to Washington.
Parker's BBQ is opening another location in the Bell's Fork area. It will be beside Wendy's & across from the new Walmart Neighborhood Market on Arlington Blvd. Sign says they are coming in 2016.
Runway expansion nearly complete at Pitt-Greenville Airport
The $6-million project adds 670 feet to the roughly 6,500 foot runway.
Airport Operations Director Gordon Rowell believes the extension could help ensure safer landings and attract more private pilots for the airport which he says already has a solid customer base.
In addition to the runway extension, this summer Rowell says he hopes they will break ground on 3 additional hangars which would attract more corporate aircraft.

That's it. Thanks G&B. I hadn't read anything about it. Glad it's not more multi-family housing!!
