What is being done about the river flooding in that part of the state? I was living there during Bertha, Fran, Dennis and left just in time to miss Floyd. They don't call that area the Coastal Flood Plains for no reason.

North Greenville suffered damage in Matthew. Some other spots, including the 10th St post office had issues. Not sure why the Post Office doesn't just relocate, would be nice if they just built a nice new facility downtown.

West Park Motor Company from Washington is taking over the old bank on Portertown and 10th behind Sheetz. https://www.facebook.com/westparkmotorco/

A furniture store also is now open next to the Food Lion in the same area. They took over the old Dollar General.

I think there is another new furniture store open behind that closer to Walmart as well but it's much smaller.

Excellent news on a new internet service provider for Greenville.

https://www.wnct.com/local-news/gree...ernet-service/

Quote:
The City of Greenville on Thursday announced a partnership with MetroNet, a company based out of Evansville, Ind. The partnership will soon bring the company’s 100% fiber optic internet, TV and phone services to businesses and residents. It will also provide customers another option from what is currently available within the city.

The city said in a press release the agreement will allow MetroNet to invest more than $40 million in the community and bring fiber-to-the-home directly to Greenville residents.
Suddenlink needed some competition!

This will look great. I think they need a roundabout at Fleming and 14th as well.

Is there any word/advancement on the dickinson street scape?

Excellent. This is much needed, especially from Reade Circle to Evans.

I remember a citizen of Greenville or Pitt Co. pitched the idea of a lake in the area to help with flooding but I don't think it was ever taken too seriously. I do think it could be worth exploring, especially if such a lake could mitigate flooding up and down the Tar. For example if a lake between Tarboro and Greenville could prevent massive flooding in Edgecombe, Pitt, and Beaufort counties. Admittedly though I do not know if the impact would be that widespread.
