Starting not-quite-bright and early this morning, the Pitt-Greenville Airport is offering another early morning departure for business travelers.
The new 5:42 a.m. departure to Charlotte precedes the former earliest flight, 7:22 a.m. by almost two hours, which airport officials say will increase the number of timely connections business passengers can make in Charlotte.
According to a news release by the airport, the addition came in direct response to concerns raised by businesses in the recent months. The release says the new flight will allow passengers to reach their final destination sooner than if they had driven to Raleigh to catch a flight.
“We’ve worked closely with American Airlines to share the needs of our community and respond appropriately to what the people are saying,” Betty Stansbury, airport executive director, said in the release.
“Our hope is that this early-morning flight will create better options for service and enable area residents and business travelers to think PGV first when planning their flight,” Stansbury said.
The new flight will be offered seven days a week for the foreseeable future. Stansbury said the addition, as well as the recent switch to all-jet service for the airport, is part of an effort to improve the airport’s overall reliability and travelers’ experiences.
Is there increasing demand to live closer to UpTown yet? Specifically the single family homes in the area? Walkability is a big deal for young people, I would imagine living near the Dickinson corridor would be appealing.
When does the new science building break ground for EC on 10th and the millennial campus refurb? I know these projects and those above have been known for some time but they are coalescing at the same time and will dramatically change the area.

It appears that the very dangerous intersection of Ivy Rd and NC 43 is getting a traffic signal. There have been a lot of accidents at this intersection going waaaaay back.
