Is there something scheduled for Evans between Reade and Gville Blvd? I know the road diet between 10th and Reade on Evans was shelved when the redevelopment downtown started happening.
You could be correct - I believe I remember Ryan Purtle saying that Evans had widening planned for 2021. Might be later. They really need to revisit the road diet plan, because post-connector completion there's going to be bikes headed in that direction. ECU has been floating the idea of a shared-use path connecting the Health Sciences Campus and the planned Life Sciences building/Main Campus as part of their sustainability master plan development, and the 10th street corridor is the logical choice for location.

^ So my basic take from the is the only people in objection to this development are the sounding neighborhoods with large expensive houses and large lots. Throwing out objections about the increase in traffic is reaching for straws. Development is going that direction like it or not.

Agreed. Why not ask for the speed limit to be lowered if there is a safety concern. But there is no reason to not develop the area with single family houses.

That article mentions “a second site for Michaels” but isn’t Michaels moving from the Petsmart shopping center?

I had wondered if Elite Pools left the Portertown corner because of the Firetower/Portertown Rd project that is supposed to have a roundabout at that intersection. That building may be torn down as part of the road project.

I think the second was in reference to the split of the Lowe's building. Second space of the building. First was Marshall's.
