There isn't much to debate on this topic, the Jews will never build the Third-Temple without it. I personally believe Gods perfect timing will play out with the red heifer. There hasn't been one born in 2000 years, and it needs to be 3-4 years old (allowed to be slightly older).
Keep in mind if ever a temple is built, those who turn from Christ to animal sacrifices are forever damned. The real third temple is Christ and the Church where God dwells. If you plan to return to animal sacrifices, are you already damned forever? Hebrews 6. A sin of the heart?
Well, we totally have to get the catering worked out and buy the wine. On second thought, we could just buy some water coolers and ask the guest of honor to take care of matters.

Ezekial 40 is very clear that Sacrifices will be done to purify the New Temple. For context the following below is all prophetic regarding the rebuilding of the third temple.
The Rooms for Preparing Sacrifices
38 A room with a doorway was by the portico in each of the inner gateways, where the burnt offerings were washed. 39 In the portico of the gateway were two tables on each side, on which the burnt offerings, sin offerings[n] and guilt offerings were slaughtered. 40 By the outside wall of the portico of the gateway, near the steps at the entrance of the north gateway were two tables, and on the other side of the steps were two tables. 41 So there were four tables on one side of the gateway and four on the other—eight tables in all—on which the sacrifices were slaughtered. 42 There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt offerings, each a cubit and a half long, a cubit and a half wide and a cubit high.[o] On them were placed the utensils for slaughtering the burnt offerings and the other sacrifices. 43 And double-pronged hooks, each a handbreadth[p] long, were attached to the wall all around. The tables were for the flesh of the offerings.
Just so were on the same page, Ezekial is great book to read about the upcoming prophecy and what needs to happen next.
Ezekial 36 - Hope for the Mountains of Israel - Fulfilled, its about assurance of people returning to Israel.
Ezekial 37 - The Valley of Dry Bones - Fulfilled, the people who return to Israel (Holocaust)
Ezekial 37 - One Nation Under One King - Fulfilled, establishment of the Government of Israel. (Where we are today)
Ezekial 38 - The Lord’s Great Victory Over the Nations, NOT FULFILLED, Russia and other countries attack Israel. Israel wins the war, with divine intervention with a great earthquake, meteors and somehow forcing the enemy to attack each other.
Ezekial 39 - A continuation and cleanup of the war. (The Bible does not mention this part, but i'd speculate as one of the spoils from the war that Israel gets control over the "Dome of the Rock".)
Ezekial 40 - The Temple Area Restored, NOT FULFILLED, the rebuilding of the third temple.
Now the Book of Ezekial ends here. The Book of Daniel and Jesus (New Testament), both discuss the Anti-Christ defiling and taking seat as the worlds God in the Third-Temple. Jesus returns after this happens. So all this can happen in a few years, and Jesus does promise all this will occur that the people who see 1948 will be alive to witness this.

Guess what Danny.... Nobody can build Ezekiel's temple but God. And He did! The miracles associated with it point to Christ and His miracles symbolized by Ezekiel. More on that later. But why cannot anyone build it? Because the dimensions are not complete. You would need to wing it, adding to scripture, in order to build it. There are no height dimensions other than the two columns. If you were to build an exact model based on Ezekiel's dimensions it would look like a pack of cigarettes laid flat with two chopsticks on each side of the front. So it will be blasphemy if anyone ever tries.

There are no measurements to build Ezekiel's temple because of the fact of it being an ever expanding. Temple that can NEVER be made of hands but when Jesus was whippiing people from the court, he did so as the prince of Ezekiel under new rules.
Ezekiel changed the law, and just as it states, a river began to flow out from the temple and grew wider and larger just as the new testament states that when you believe in Jesus, a river springs up in you, and Ezekiel talks all about the fishermen in reference to the disciples being made as fishers of men.

Its overwhelming in the New Testament that the Temple is a physical and real place.
