I like having the tv on in the background. Would be hesitant to cut cable, even though it would be a good cost savings measure.

Exactly. I haven't had a TV in 5 years, and no regrets. I watch the programs online when needed and netflix the series. Even soccer is readily available on (illegal) net streams from all over the world. Who would need a TV?

Today I watched the Champions' League semifinal, yesterday the Swedish League and on Sat an Sun the Finnish league. What channel offers that package? And if I want to watch the 2nd German League, I just go ahead.

I prefer watching TV programmes on TV, on my sofa, in comfort. Watching programmes online, at a desk, or even on a laptop, is not the same.

Football is boring, btw. How many times must you be told?

agree. I have cable now, and when I move out, a big plasma screen TV with cable and a digital TV recorder box will be the first thing I install, even if I am sleeping on an air mattress and living off noodles and with only a $15/week budget for alchohol.

Yes and I like the idea of being able to choose what programmes you watch. I also like to watch programmes from my own country.

I prefer to watch what I watch when I watch, never remember the schedules anyway. The display I have is big enough to watch TV comfortably from my bed, as I don't have a sofa anymore (took too much space).

And football isn't boring, wise up. Go play some cricket or something?

All stopped now. Several flashes. Pretty good. Very heavy rain as well - the roads were torrents.

We got lucky. The area of precipitation (which was very small anyway) intensified above, and then lightning followed. Only East Leeds though.
