Also, this article though older (2002) states that farms do grow navel oranges in South Louisiana.

https://www.deltafarmpress.com/louis...-coming-market

Louisiana growers produce 17 varieties of citrus — ranging from Washington navel oranges and the popular satsumas to grapefruit, sweet and sour kumquats, and blood oranges.
In Plaquemines Parish, orchards line the highways, and roadside stands are plentiful from Belle Chase to Boothville. For shoppers who don't want to make the trip south of New Orleans, Louisiana citrus is abundant in grocery stores and fruit stands across the state.
Vaughn said this year's navel orange and satsuma crops will remain strong until mid-January, when production will begin to taper off.
"Louisiana citrus gives the state's residents a higher-value crop," he said. "They can enjoy wholesale prices at roadside stands and enjoy oranges, satsumas, grapefruit and other citrus products picked at the peak of flavor."
Yes Plaquemines Parish is the southernmost parish in Louisiana, it's the parish that is the "string" on the "boot" that hangs out to the sea. It is surrounded on 3 sides with water and is further south than anyplace in the state.

Jeff Davis Parish, where Lacassine is, is further north than Plaquemines and oranges cannot grow there but satsumas can.

That small difference in latitude can be a very big difference in temps. The difference between 32 in JD and 35 in Plaquemines on a morning. One freezes oranges, the other has no effect.

El Nino effect, warmer temperatures relative to average further to the north. Pattern will take until the end of December for arctic air to move back from southern Canada into the US again.

I can live with this every winter. Just bring that heavy rain every week.

Will be quite mild here for the next 10 days then near normal around Christmas. When does the cold stage a comeback?

Eh, slightly above normal is fine for a period. Highs around 60°F and lows around 40°F are mild during the day and chilly at night.

I love CityData! Like one long Weather diary being able to look back at posts!

Ironically December 14, 2017 last year we had high ratios here (20:1).

Couple posts from that day... More moisture around with the clipper last yr vs todays..
