To me these are cloudy days. Look at the ground, it is really dark. But I live in Austin, when you get even a mostly cloudy day it's bright. A partly cloudy day is basically no different than a sunny day here except you get breaks from the sun now and then.
Compare to the brightness of this "mostly cloudy" winter day in Austin:
Bowling Green, KY had an ice day on November 27. (An ice day is when the high stays at or below freezing). High of 31 F / -1 C. It was windy too, and snowed a little. It was the coldest feeling November day in a long time.
Who would of thought there would be a Mid Atlantic snowstorm and continued cold temps since mid October. Raleigh with more snow than areas in the Northeast now.
Sometimes I like to look back at all our posts...

So now I'm in the dark on when we will get a warm pattern. Though if I had to guess I think we stay below average until November. Also gfs showing insanely early freezes.

I made all of those posts in disbelief, humor, and pessimism. Not actual belief! Yet against all odds I was right in that this cold pattern has not relaxed, is not showing signs of relaxing, and is certainly resembling the longevity of previous decade cold patterns.
Truly impressive. Oh and Mid-Atlantic? Be careful who you tell that to Cambium that is rather offensive to call us mid-atlantic.
It was down to 18 degrees on my home from work this AM in SE Pa. No snow, though. I think its supposed to moderate to 50 degrees by the end of the week.
Light frost this morning in Austin. Currently 35 and sunny. Forecast to be 60 and sunny under sunny skies and a light west wind. The warm up begins tomorrow.
I did bring in the yellow poinsettias as they are more delicate than the pink and red ones. The yellow one was drooping last night, brought it into the 70F home and it perked right up. Now I'll keep it in the sunny window ledge until it warms above 50.
Planted a drawf yupon holly yesterday. They usually start budding in February, the berries will be a nice red color when most of the landscape is bleak.
