Subzero temps are right now after sunset spilling into the upper fringes of Nebraska and Iowa, now also covering Sioux Falls and the entire eastern boundary of South Dakota. The Northwestern corner of Missouri is now also below -10°C, so I assume the night might be rather cold all over the prairies! The majority of Minnesota has also fallen below subzero F°, including nearly all of Canada's and all of Minnesota's Lake Superior coastline. Much of the lake's offshore air is now also below -10°C, although temps close to -5°C occur on the southern shore.
Rather chilly weather is expected for the DFW Metroplex for the next week, with none of the next seven days expected to be warmer than the lower 60’s for highs and lows mostly in the 20’s or 30’s, all in all rather limboish in terms of weather here in Fort Worth Texas; rain, some of it heavy is forecast for Sunday and Monday.
Super foggy out here. Typically happens around New Years Eve but had a couple of thick foggy days this month thanks to the warmth aloft.
Snowing in El Paso at the moment. 18 inches of snow in Alto, NM.
Current Upper Heights. Those are fog icons in the East. Where's that PV when you need it? I thought it was supposed to drop to Hudson Bay this week. lol
56F today in Metro Detroit, around the same as the Southern California inland cities! Winter is back. It's 34F right now. Still much warmer than this time last year.
Edit: Now it's snowing lol. Not enough to accumulate but snowing nonetheless.

Upper Midwest cold snap update. Now it's 4 am local time there (11 am in Sweden) and it has edged down towards or even below -30°C both in South Dakota and Minnesota. Also, Ontario close to Lake Superior is below -30°C in many areas. Quite a heavy cold snap for being prior to the New Year. Currently, the Canadian northern coastline at 83°N (-22°C) is way less cold than a large part of the Upper Midwest.
The cold air previously dominating the areas around the Ural Mountains has been pushed back and thus the cold spell dominating much of Decembers' second half has been pushed back. Now though, there's an area offshore near where I am rather close to freezing out on the open water which is quite random given air temps in other parts of the Baltic Sea. This is at 11 am Sweden time today:
The high water temps at 71°N (7°C at 10 pm yesterday) north-west of Norway have been strongly pushed back overnight and they are now below freezing. That could still mean that north-westerlies would be much cooler should the wind turn to that direction, even though it appears unlikely at the present moment.

6F in parts of NM according to one map I'm looking at. Quite remarkable, assuming it's some not high-altitude microclimate. And as your map shows, snow down into far northern Mexico!
More upper 80's today inland and no chance of any rain with that dead locked high. This could be another winter like 1990 with no cold weather at all.
