Yes, here in Maryland we had many days never leave the 30s when the average high here is 44 and 41 at the airport in Glen Burnie. That snowstorm also gave us eight more inches than normal.

I will as long as it brings some cold and snow to balance out the ****ty December we had.... Though I doubt it will be nearly as significant as the PV of Jan 2014 or as long lasting. That's ok though. I switch to a pro warm state after the first week of March

That first map looks like fun for all my extended family in northern Missouri.

The weather pattern here in the South to start the year has been satisfactory, with near-normal precipitation and slightly below-normal temperatures. We've had two decent cold rain events, and a dusting of snow last weekend as well. There have been no temperatures in the 70s this month, and only a handful of days with temperatures in the 60s. It appears that we'll have our warmest weather since Christmas to start February, but I actually don't mind a few days of warmth here and there during the winter. I just don't want it to be persistent like it was in December. January has been a good antidote for that, and it appears that February will be as well, after the warmth is done by the middle of next week.

By the way, here's a list of every day in 2015 with maximum temperatures lower than Christmas Day (77°F) in Athens, GA:


January: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31.
(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than all 31 days in January 2015.)

February: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28.
(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than all 28 days in February 2015.)

March: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.
(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than 23 of 31 days in March 2015.)

April: 2, 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30.
(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than 19 of 30 days in April 2015.)

May: 1.
(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than 1 of 31 days in May 2015.)

June: -
(Christmas did not have a higher maximum temperature than any day in June 2015.)

(Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than 29 of 31 days in December 2015.)


All in all, Christmas had a higher maximum temperature than 185 days in 2015, which puts it in the warmer half of all days last year! June and July were the only months in which every single day had a higher maximum than Christmas. Even May, August and September had at least one day with a lower maximum. Factor in the eight other days in 2015 with identical maximum temperatures of 77°F, and Christmas had a lower maximum than only 171 days last year. It just goes to show you how anomalous the weather was on Christmas here in Athens. I hope it never happens again in my life.

I bet he's not complaining about "anomalies" when Philly hits 60 F or 65 F in the middle of winter.
