Geesus this is so AMAZING here!! Midday, Bright blue skies, Full Sun, 2 days to March 1st, normal is low 40s, and we're struggling past mid 20s again???? AGAIN

Current temps and departures...

Majority of the lower 48 is below freezing & below normal for the hour. A Huge chunk is below 20°F(pink)

Teens in Texas and Kansas right now??? Normal is in the 50s!

My ideal type of weather today in Pgh...mid to upper-teens (F) with at least a decent snow pack, blazing sunshine, light winds, and with the added bonus of 1,036 mb high pressure aloft.

Sure will be nice to look back on and remember because we know 80s/90s and muggy unbreathable air with bugs in our mouth and hair is coming soon. lol

Satellite this morning showing the snowy landscape starts in North Carolina all the way up to Maine. Strange pocket of no snow in northern Maryland there and Adirondacks? (pine trees with no snow?)

Not a lot of snowpack to melt with temps in the 20s and 30s but with temps in the 40s in North Caroilina and Virginia today snowpack should be disappearing. Coast of NJ looks light.

Never really understood that. When it's really cold, I don't look back and remember the hottest weather I find uncomfortable, I think of milder late spring weather or just whatever I find comfortable. Why wouldn't you think of spring during heat waves instead of extreme cold?

Today doesn't feel as cold as a lot of days earlier in the month.

Shows the same color in the White Mountains? I think higher elevations show a darker color.

I think you answered it. Lol. Spring doesn't make me "comfortable". Sure I can find awesome pleasurable days in spring but these days we been having is more comfortable for me and wish I had it all year round. I have more memories of days below freezing being comfortable than days below 60 in Spring.

Yeah, his numbers were from the 24th I believe. I will have an extensive list when we're done after tomorrow

BTW... Remember our conversation in the Fall (I think) of how I wished and wondered if the Northeast/New England could be more below normal than MidWest? Well.. Mother Nature must of heard me. Lol

Looks like we tied rather than beat the Midwest:

January upstate New York was the coldest:

Feb 1934 looks like an unusual setup, center of cold was far enough east for NYC to record -15°F, though less heat island may have played a role.
