As long as it doesn't happen here, which it might, I'll be fine.
I underestimated the UHI, subzero seemed like a lock, but thankfully it wasn't. My low was 1F, which is extremely cold, but the winds have calmed down so it's not as bad as last night.

It's BS. NYC with the warmest low north of Baltimore.

I am requesting a station inspection. No reason why they couldn't go lower. Other locations had winds with a continued drop so why hasn't NYC dropped since 11pm last night?

LaGuardia Airport had a low of 4°F, JFK 5°F, Islip 3°F, Farmingdale 2°F. Newark 2°F. All had small drops of 2°F or less.

Philly dropped from 9° at midnight to 3° at 6am with wind.

NYC didn't drop & stayed steady at 4° for 9+ hrs

True but Philadelphia's in a different area and more inland. None of the stations I listed dropped much.

Yeah, the pause is baffling and interesting. I'm curious with the sub zero of the 1960s in NYC if that was the case as well. Did they drop through the night or stayed somewhat steady below zero?

Correction: NWS says NYC Central Park's low temp was 3F, making it the coldest reading since 1/16/04.

AND.... Nobody younger than 48 years old has experienced this type of cold in the month of February at least for the coast here.

2/16 Lowest Temp by State: Some still at the lows.

NY: Watertown -36°
NH: Mt Washington -35°
PA: Bradford -25°
VT: Middlebury -16°
ME: Greenville -11°
CT: Danbury -8°
RI: Pawtucket -6°
NJ: Andover -3°

You skipped Massachusetts. Lowest for Maine was only 11°? You've been comparing this to other Februarys, seems like it makes a big difference to do that rather than include January as well. These type of events definitely have occurred recently in January, 2004 maybe 2009. February is more different than I assumed.

Oh yeah, MA. LOL. Yes... trying to show we don't get this type of cold this time of year or this month.. Impressive stuff.
