In our case we felt that the thieves were casing our house..I am usually home all day, and my husband takes our one car to work. The burglers picked a time when none of our neighbors were home (some are like me they are at home during the day). This is not the first time this has happened to us, our fence was vandalized by some kids who are renting a house near our house, (we think these are the same ones who broke into our house this time). Also another time our neighbors fence was vandalized, conviently after these particular renters moved in. The association is so concerned with bare spots on our grass yet they do not moniter what goes on to the homeowners, we pay good money to live in an area that is supposed to have low crime, but I am not seeing it lately, I have seen more crime.

No monitored alarm?

Someone may have posted about this before but I couldn't find it. Are the apartments coming in to Westcreek on Military part of VOWC? I always wonder why they don't have to have the wood fencing facing Military? I would think for their privacy they would want it, and people driving in wouldn't have to see all the "goings on" in the backyards. (I am not trying to start anything, just curious)

I'm pretty sure they are not part of VOWC.

No they aren't! Unfortunately we (residents of WC) have no say over how much furniture they leave outside, or bars are bent open, or window screens hanging, etc etc. Also unfortunate that a few bad apples can make all the residents look bad, in any community.

Any apartment complex I've ever lived in was more strict about EVERYTHING you've mentioned, more than the HOA I am currently living under.

One time I made the mistake of hanging my son's towel over the railing to dry, and I got a nasty-gram on the door within minutes.

It is the first thing you see when you drive in and it certainly doesn't leave the best impression. I was pretty sure it was not a part of Westcreek but wanted to know for sure, it is alway topic of conversation when we drive past.

Westcreek HOA tried to fight it, but as you can see, did not win. I wonder if they looked into buying the property instead of where they bought the clubhouse property?

Those apartments are definitely a topic that brings out quite a bit of emotion, especially with a certain section of them being "affordable housing" or section 8.. Some will argue that everyone should be allowed to live in a nice area and others will argue against it. I'm opposed to socialism and therefore am against it and I can also make a very good case that the amount of crime spiked after they opened.
They tried to do this same thing in Stone Oak, but the lawyers up there were obviously a little better than the ones we have in Westcreek..
I personally wouldn't mind spending a little extra money on dues to fund a security crew that can monitor the neighborhood all the time.

Our house is one of the oldest in the neighborhood. (built in 1988), ADT came out and looked at the alarm system, and it needs work. Work we just can't afford right now, but hope to have fixed soon.

We think that is why we were targeted, we believe it may have been someone who was in our house before. (I am gmerian's husband BTW). Also if anyone saw anyone with a bright yellow electric scooter, or a sleeping bag that appeared to be stuffed with something on Wednesday April 16. Please let us or the BCSO know.

Have you spoken with the VWOA office about your break in? They may be able to post bulletins or otherwise let other residents know about the missing items, so they can be aware....
