We had 40 mph+ wind gusts yesterday and last night it dropped down to around 15 degrees. There is about 4" of snow on the ground with drifts around 2'.
The wind blew the well house door open so this morning we had no water......no broken pipes though.......so far........so I shut the door, put a high volume space heater in it, and will have coffee in a little while.
I stood vigil for a while last night with my deer rifle, but no reindeer landed on my roof........I have some caribou recipes I can adapt........
It is certainly beautiful out though.......isn't it amazing how white snow is? Makes the ugly mud from the rains the past several days simply disappear. The cows are nuzzling their hay, buried under a few inches of snow.........but they are a hardy breed and can survive on lots of browse as well as hay.
I love the bright promise of a new day over snow covered fields.......even if the water is frozen.........
Water is back on......no pipes froze. The pressure tank is fine.............time to go back to a good book, a quiet day and a lot of really good food..........
Tonight we begin a new year.........I am certain there will be perils and conflicts and joys and companionship along the journey for each of us. I hope that I can be one of the joys you experience........and that you can be one of mine..........
I like the following music......the Silk Road Suite........it puts me in mind of a journey where there are perils and conflicts and joys and companionship with a reward at the end for those who persevere.........
To all my dear friends around the Sacred Circle...I wish the very best to each of you in the coming year..My hopes and prayer are that you will all be blessed with good health, good food and good fellowship and prosperity..
And that we will always have the less fortunate ones among us in mind and will gladly share what the Creator has given us in abundance..
~Hugs~
