One thing that needs to be pointed out, is that it is all of Illinois that it is illegal to carry a handgun. Chicago's ban is on even owning a handgun. And yes the ban is being heard by the US Supreme Court next year. As soon as the handgun ban in DC was ruled unconstitutional, people filed against Dictator Dailey nd the city of Chicago.
I thought that some "blue" counties in IL allow CCL...
As for court desicions...if the will of the people is weak,if pro-gun forces are a minority.then what can justices do...?
As I understand,NY & Ch are anti-gun since the days of...Al Capone...

Talk about tradition...
There is no open carry or conceal carry in the whole state of IL. That is State Law.
The handgun ban in Chicago is a project of Dailey only, and the Supreme court overturned DC's handgun ban under the ruling of being unconstitutional, so, we are hoping for the same for here in Chicago. People have been fighting against Daily on this issue since he enacted the ordinance, but with no prevail. Chicago's hand gun ban has been in effect since 1983. But rifles and shotguns are legal here.
That's exactly why you don't feel threatened. The creeps don't know who's armed and chances are, their intended victims are!
False logic. Open carry is legal in Arizona, and concealed carry requires a permit. Most places of business have signs prohibiting firearms in their establishments. If someone is carrying concealed illegally, no one will know until they shoot someone. That makes me feel less safe, not more. The open carry people are no better; since they do not require specific safety and proficiency training, they are more likely to mishandle their weapon in the public sphere.
I have no idea what the concealed weapons laws are in my state, or what percentage of people carry. And I don't feel threatened at all. So obviously, my state of contentment has absolutely nothing at all to do with how many people are carrying. The same is probably true for Emeraldmaiden.
I hate guns, they scare the crap out of me. I would probably shoot myself in the foot if I had one. That being said , I think anybody (outside of people convicted of a crime or someone who is insane) who wants one should be able to have one.

taking a class on firearms safety/usage might take care of the problem of being scared around firearms, even if you have no intention of ever owning or using one.
