So something that happened over 80 years ago your justification for why Russia invaded?
What happened 80 years ago never died out, and my biggest complaint is that once it raised its ugly head AGAIN, Putin chickened out back in 2014, instead of nipping it in the bud right there and then.

And THAT's what brought today's bloodbath.
Question, how far back is the cut off date for not being able to use it as an excuse?
Never underestimate the retardation of Putin's "advisers."
After all, why do you think Medvedchuk remained in Ukraine all that time, instead of getting out of that Nazi sh8thole?
I still shudder thinking of what they did to "Rodina" party young guys, these Nazi, so why was Medvedchuk staying in Ukraine?
Think about it, because this "plan" of taking Ukraine with the help of insiders in "no time," costed the ultimate humiliation of exchanging Medvedchuk for Azov thugs, that Russians lost a lot of lives to capture.
The Medvedchuk and the other insiders story, that was a gamble to try to quickly make the Ukrainians back down, and in the face of Russian troops and a potential war that they thought Ukraine would get scared. That failed and yes lives were lost. The Russians then moved on to Plan B, to further expand and enhance their forces.

But it's this "Plan A" ( that failed) is what brought the initial idea of "three days."
Not "whatever you want," but to deal specifically with the ideology that's alive and well since the WWII times.
And anyone can find something that happened in the past to do "justify" doing anything they want. So yes, it is a covienant excuse to do whatever you want. At some point you just have to let the past go.
