You know...the kinda people that give a waste-case shyster (that doesn't even speak the language) a million dollar a year position...because, I guess, they are so astute at finding top talent.
And "invest" aid money in a scam crypto currency company...that kicks back tens of millions.

Another way the war could end is with the arrest of Putin.
I don't expect it to happen, but that doesn't mean it won't.

The Russian leaders would have to do it themselves, and if you look at it like that, it becomes a bit more plausible; Russian officials see the war will end in the destruction of Russia, so to save themselves they arrest Putin and turn him over for trial for war crimes in Europe.

You know...so Putin could go down in history as one of Russia's "Peter The Great's". There has been alot of blood spilt over this man's ego. And all of that blood is on Putin's hands...nobody put a gun to his head and made him invade an internationally recognized sovereign nation. And if he was stupid enough to think there would be no international consequences...well that is on him too.

On 2/25, oil was $91.
Now it is $71.
Weeks ago the Ruskateers were whooping it up and slapping their knees over the reports that Russia was "making even MORE money" since the sanctions. Not that it wasn't true at the time - it was. But Europe has worked to divest themselves of Russian oil, and Russia has shown the world the folly of depending on them for a steady supply.
Now all the Russia sympathizers can do is talk about how many oil tanker ships Russia has.

Important discussions began this week over how the frozen Russian funds can be used to clean up the damage Russia has done.
Angela Merkel has tried to justify her decision to fast-track dependence on Russian energy, take down Germany's nuclear power plants, and spend less on defense.
It is reported that a group of prisoners who were sent to the front line to join a Wagner PMC unit around Donetsk area have deserted and are now armed and on the run. I guess we all knew that would happen at some point.

Merkel didn't want to pay 5 times more for the US LNG. Let me know if you are still not getting this. Lol.

Why do they always start out as disinterested, analytical subject matter experts with a neutral approach and end up being sad tankies?

To say nothing about the state/religion overlap. The Russian Orthodox patriarch has already declared that dying in Ukraine is a golden ticket to Heaven - all sins forgiven.

Reminds me of the joke

The Russian people aren't afraid of nuclear war because they KNOW they will go to heaven....upon hearing this Heaven immediately submitted its application to join NATO

Merkel could have chose to keep their nuclear powerplants running,
that was the big mistake...and she grew up in East Germany,
she (and Germany) should have known better.
Deal with Russia on anything as little as possible.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

"Of course Russia decided on an aggressive foreign policy. They were ostracized, isolated from the West. What a mistake."

vs.

"Of course Russia decided on an aggressive foreign policy. Their energy deals gave them massive leverage over the West. What a mistake."
