Deal with Russia on anything as little as possible.
The decision to phase out nuclear plants was made before her time. But yes, she might had been able to reverse it.

Putin's Plan B:

Putin and his entourage have made plans to abandon Russia for Venezuela if the worst happens. They have made arrangements after first considering China and Argentina. China, it was feared, may not co-operate, so they settled on Venezuela.
Venezuela’s Margarita Island is the ideal location they feel. It can be defended and Venezuela will prevent extradition.

A leaderless Russia will devolve very quickly and will be worse than most Russians can imagine. For that matter the end of this war will come suddenly, even if not quickly. If Putin leaves the country, the military will immediately fall apart to the point where many officers will be killed and soldiers walk home.
Ukraine, recognizing that Russian soldiers are mostly unwilling and uninformed, may leave the Crimea Bridge intact long enough for Russia soldiers to get across. But it would then be destroyed and never built back. We will see a day when there is not a single Russian warship operating in the Black Sea.

The real winners will be Ukraine . who will establish itself as a great provider of food and fuel, and Turkey, whose economy will be revived by Russia's loss. Turkey has walked a fine line in this dispute, and paid a high price; in the end it will pay off.

Who has the advantage in the winter: Russia or Ukraine? Russian transport planes have been seen making repeated trips to and from China. What are they carrying? What else? Weapons and equipment for the war. The CCP would be happy to see how their weapons would do against Western weapons without having to fight a war.

Ukrainian woman: We can freeze and we can starve, as long the Russians aren't here.

The AN-124 has been used to shuttle back and forth to China.
It's a big plane and they have been operating without tracking devices, but what difference could they possible make in a war effort? Only 9 of them are tracked into China and that number of planes just won't make any difference.
Are they carrying pallet loads of money to be used by Putin and Co.? I wouldn't doubt it.

There is no advantage to anyone in winter, unless one of them is poorly equipped. And the Russians are.

Frozen sound means that heavy equipment is not limited to roads, so there's that.

I'm skeptical.

If Putin's regime collapses it might well be Russia looking for Putin as well, and Russia would have a lot more influence over Venezuela than a former dictator trying to call the shots from an island.

It's a puzzle, isn't it?.... I mean the moving parts and exactly who would do what.
If Russia fails everyone will want Putin - every legal body in the world, like Nazi's after WW2. But I suppose that is the purpose of being on an island. It would be a little easier to defend and easy to detect anyone coming ashore.
And maybe those transport planes were loaded with money to be used in Venezuela. That much money could buy an awful lot of security for the years Putin has left.

I agree. I think the U.S. and Europe thought Ukraine would collapse within a week. Other countries have come to the aid of Ukraine because of what they were able to do on their own. Many of the comments such as Zalenskyy being a puppet of the U.S. are nonsense. These people would've been supporting Hitler in 1940.
