You can keep playing word games, but the bottom line is that the Soviet Union won and Finland lost the Winter War. The Soviets had two opportunities to take all of Finland and did not because they didn't want to. They just took the parts that they wanted and in addition Finland had to pay massive war reparations despite not having started that war. Therefore the premise that Finland fought the Soviet Union to a standstill is absurd and false.

You didn't actually read anything Putin has said have you? He has not threatened to use nukes first. The Russian edict is clear on the use of nukes. Only if attacked first.
Have you read the Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence from 2020?

In Putin’s Feb 24 2022 speech he said…
“…For our country, it is a matter of life and death, a matter of our historical future as a nation. This is not an exaggeration; this is a fact. It is not only a very real threat to our interests but to the very existence of our state and to its sovereignty”
It seems like Putin is framing this to meet the strike-first policy.
If everyone is varying degrees of evil then everyone is also varying degrees of good. It depends on if you are more good, or at least strive to be more good, then evil that matters.
The west was calling Ukraine a Nazi state way before Russia did. The west believes Ukraine is bad, now they believe they are good. Hence the subjectivity of each label to fit your own narrative.
