No. Per the CDC: "The data to date (as of 7/16/20) show no increased risk of COVID-19 infection or severity of COVID-19 disease in people with asthma. The CDC does list moderate-to-severe asthma as a possible risk factor for severe COVID-19 disease, but there are no published data to support that at this time."

More is known now then was known in July. https://www.statnews.com/2020/07/02/...tion-research/

Non allergic asthma is associated with significantly higher risk from covid.

Here's what it actually says: "Does asthma increase Covid-19 risk? Emerging research suggests a complicated connection"

IOW, "it's complicated". And your link is also from JULY.

Yeah, obesity is one the biggest risk factors.

The average American does not go to the ICU with little problems, because their insurance won't pay for it.

Chris Christie is not an average American. He has the funds to do that. All indications are that he just checked himself for monitoring, because he was scared. In the ICU, it allows his vitals to be monitored more regularly. But, given he basically left the ICU and same day was healthy as ever, you kind use your brain and figure out he wasn't that sick in that ICU.

Since he had already been hospitalized for a severe asthma attack (note, that is not your run-of-the-mill allergy-related asthma) and he is morbidly obese (not, that is not just a few pounds overweight) his doctor wisely decided to err on the safe side...and CC has the financial wherewithal to err very safely. He has reported that he had 'very mild' symptoms throughout his Covid infection. Apparently, he is just fine now. (Obviously his asthma and weight co-morbidities continue).

We don't lick surfaces. It is in the air.

Common sense is needed. Even if you test negative one day, does not mean you are not infected. It takes a few days to show up so that negative test is a failure some of the time. A few days later that infection shows up . Meanwhile one can spread it around without even knowing they are truly positive but the test said negative because it was too early to detect.
Kudos for getting it and a rep for you.

I agree that Fauci should not have said not to wear a mask. Those of us in health care knew this was airborne from day one after looking at what happened in Wuhan. I also knew there would be a supply chain interruption and people would panic buy every available mask. Fauci's narrative didn't work. You could not find an N95 at any of the big box supply stores or on line. People aren't stupid. well okay, many are, but enough knew that this was going to be bad and they went out and bought N95 masks. Try to find one on the shelf today. So I understand why Fauci wanted to slow down the panic buying to keep them for health care workers.

You are 100% correct about testing. It should be used as a two part tool. One to determine who is positive, and two as a tool to trace and isolate and quarantine positive cases. What happened in the white house just shows how epic a failure we've had in this country containing this virus. If the buffoons in the white house can't keep Trump safe, what chance does Joe average have?

Our only hope is to stay out of crowds, no social gatherings, and wear a mask. We as a country are not as smart as Taiwan and its people who get it and wore masks from day one.

Yeah.....he had a "fairly uncomplicated case" and yet he ended up in the ICU..........
He (and "individuals") with his risk profile are at high risk........

Here you go. It explains why it’s complicated. Asthma caused be allergies does not seem to raise one’s risk of covid while non allergic asthma does.

If you want to keep arguing about this, feel free to do so with yourself.

If anyone has asthma (regardless of type) or any other breathing-related issue, they will be at high risk for bad outcomes associated with COVID. Best to avoid getting it all together......
