because misery sells, first of all.

painting oneself as a victim? its virtuous.

and, job validation/security. the "times are tough" is what some politicians, social scientists, writers, and/or activists use and need.

Restaurants are begging for workers right now, and servers can REALLY clean up in tips. I know on the rare occasion we go to Cheesecake Factory, for example, we have a bill of about $100. For "normal" service I tip 20%, and for great service I tip 30%, so, often I will pay $130. If our server is waiting on three tables during the same hour we are eating, then they are making their low base rate plus our $30 plus similar (or maybe slightly lower) tips from the other tables. I know when I was a food delivery driver there were nights I would leave with $200+ in tips. Many service-sector workers net more than I do working in public safety, so I don't understand why people are having trouble securing lucrative employment at the moment.
Who said times are tough or the economy is the reason homicides are through the roof?

So they’re deflecting from the summer of love, immediate cries to defund the police, defending and enabling criminals, etc… Though we’ve seen “progressives” vote for soft on crime folks that defend and enable criminals which keeps the violence going. Such funny folks.

Criminals and defenders and enablers of criminals are big fans…and it’s hilarious when those same folks complain about their areas being lousy and getting worse. They can’t see 5 minutes in front of themselves to the consequences….and it’s especially hilarious when many of the same folks try to defend the areas while the stats prove how lousy they are.
