AZ is not close to my previous home in So Cal climate wise in the Summer, but much more pleasant than most of Florida.
What part of Florida are you from?

I could never live there. Moved to Vegas and lasted a month. Dry heat or not, 100+ temps are miserably hot. To each their own. I actually like snow and enjoy getting outside in it. I do not acclimate well to heat.

Viola, great observation.

I have lived here since 1996 and I never saw a single scorpion in all that time.

Scorpions and other creepy-crawlies exist but there is such an overblown fear of them.

It's all about different tolerance levels and tradeoffs.

While most people find our summers unpleasant including me, many people don't like places with sub-freezing temperatures that get a lot of snow and ice, these conditions make for hazardous driving and high energy costs among other things.

Cold, cloudy, rainy, or snowy climates tend to be more depressing than sunbelt climates.

That's a big reason why people from the midwestern and eastern cities move to places like Phoenix and Las Vegas.

The heat might be miserable for several months but at least driving conditions aren't affected, and you can still be outdoors in the shade or the pool and be relatively comfortable.

Yeah, our first heatwave, highs 110+ from Fri thru at least Mon, topping out at 114 on Saturday which will be 14 degrees above average!

Those are more typical for late June, not early June. Bah humbug. Not looking forward to sitting inside in the afternoons quite yet.

Ever notice that the population of the valley increased fast after the 50-60s era and AC become common??
My son lives there still and claims he likes the heat. But he works in AC, drives with it and does not go outside his home when it's hot preferring the AC he pays for much for.
I moved out of the heat and wind in SE AZ. I think as you get older you become less tolerate of the heat.
