Because it's a 'dry' heat. I don't mind it. When it is 90 and humid it fells like a steambath. When it's 115 and dry, it feels like a sauna.

Not so dry now that the monsoon season has started, it feels miserable.

In the last few days the afternoon temperature has been in the 105 to 110 range and much higher humidity.

To me it feels like a combination of a sauna and a steambath.

Right now PHX showing 100F/63F (temp/dewpoint)... That is pretty muggy air. Wait until the dew points creep into the middle 70Fs...then its unbearable. Its like you can hardly breath the air is so thick.

That's Florida levels of humidity. How long does that last?

People often incorrectly believe that it doesn't get humid here. Wait until more storms hit and it's still 105 right after.

People who are not aware of our annual brief monsoon season are uninformed. It's not a secret.

And, if there's actually rain from the storm, it's not 105 in the area of the rain right after. The constant exaggeration is getting very tiresome.

Well, it takes a while for it to creep up to 105 usually. If we have a night storm it can knock the temps down to the high 70's, low 80's. The next day we'll be back to 105, but not right after the storm itself.

Of course, I agree with those who say our monsoon season can be quite uncomfortable. Luckily, it doesn't last long. And, the monsoon humidity can fluctuate based on weather patterns. We may have a real humid week with a few storms and then a high pressure drier system moves back in for a few days or weeks and it gets dry and hot again. Then the monsoon makes another appearance, etc.

The bad thing about the monsoon fluctuation is the heat is still miserable no matter how dry or humid it is.

As soon as the dry air moves in the temperatures soar to over 110, when the moisture and thunderstorm threats return the temperatures are lower but the humidity along with the heat can be even harder to deal with.

Summertime in Phoenix becomes tiresome and tedious very fast.

It can be truly painful during monsoon season. After the rain, the humidity is near 100% and the temperature remains above 100F. There's a reason why people say summers are 7 months long here.
