What a waste.

The first time I masked up in almost a year was just prior to and during the travel portions of my vacation. I still have yet to get covid (knock on wood) and didn't even have a cold or bronchitis during the year where I masked but was still at work every day. Mitigating the risk of getting sick before a trip, event, or something else makes a lot of sense, especially in the past few weeks where families are ending vacations before school or people without children are heading out to enjoy quieter vacations without families mobbing beaches and museums.
My 80-yr-old mom visited recently. I admonished her when she told me she hadn't masked on the plane, so made it a point to do so on her flight back home. She already had a bout with Covid exactly a year ago, after returning from one of those senior citizen group tours. Fortunately that was mild but still at her age...

I remember wearing proper mask during COVID going into stores before my cruises as I had to pass tests in order to sail and did not want test to be positive. After cruislines lifted requirements for masks I was only wearing masks on ships when entering elevators except for the last one on May as cases were really down. I may do this on upcoming cruise if cases rise. Just as precaution. I am not overly concerned about COVID as I work from home (although my first COVID was not plesant as my husband's second one), but if I had to work in person after cruises I would be more cautious.

It's not about politics it's about stupidity. Allow people to do what they want. Trying to stop a respiratory virus even with n95 is like trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence.

Practice what you preach. If someone wants to wear a mask in 2023, so what? You don't have to.

You're right, it's about stupidity. And this statement is stupid. There's an endless number of studies that show that properly worn n95s offer significant protection against viruses.

I never said that people should not wear a mask if they want. Just don't tell me to wear one. There are studies that masks don't work also.

Japan known for mask wearing had a serious flu outbreak in 2019.

Who is telling you to wear one? They're aren't credible studies that say they don't work when worn properly.

Many people wear masks in public in Japan, but certainly not all (or even most). The fact that there was a big flu outbreak there doesn't say anything about mask efficacy.

I was forced to wear one for 2 and half years in grocery stores and restaurants. When walking outside in mass people would tell me to put a mask on during COVID. I used the c word often.i was forced to use one in gyms.

Right. Buy we're talking about people voluntarily wearing masks today. Who is telling you to wear a mask today?

How does wearing a mask improperly make wearers feel more secure? Their noses hanging out is just free means of easy entry for virus particles. So, why bother wearing a mask if that's how they're going to wear one?!!
