DO NOT...

...put gravy on *my* mashed potatoes.

"As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk
Or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a
sports car with an automatic transmission."

My mashies are a treat by themselves. For each pound of potato, 1 stick of butter, 8 ounces of cheddar or jack cheese (jalapeno jack sometimes), 1 big onion (diced, raw), a few pinches of sage, plenty of fresh ground tellicherry pepper, generous sprinkles of paprika, and whole milk for consistency (not particularly stiff). And I don't peel them.

(Anything other than whole milk, for any use, is a waste. You might as well be having water with some powdered drywall stirred into it.)

Ah geez, now I'm feeling real good about the skim milk in my fridge! We normally use goat's milk, but alas, no one is lactating. When they were lactating, I couldn't get the darn thing to stand still long enough to milk. (she's now easy on the stand )Oh yeah, it's been 7 months of skim, but whole has way too much fat.

Oh yes, as for the sign that Bewitched and Molly have, that was my signature online for YEARS! I will NOT have a perfect body when I die...

Speaking of "the season for magic"......we just got a rather unexpected $430 surprise in the mail! What a treat!! This is from a 4 year old mortgage issue that I assumed would never be righted. I had forgotten about it. How cool is that!!!??!!!

ALL (and I do mean ALL) unloved and unwanted fruitcakes are welcome at my house! Calories... what calories? They are a celebration of the abundance of the year, to be eaten with gusto as well as being carried into the next year as an omen.

I can never have too much fruitcake. Send them on to me!!

Sorry it's blurry - hard to catch him still!
