I still haven't gotten an invitation for my 2nd interview. I don't know if this is a good or bad sign.

I am applying for Aria Pool Bartender.

Had my intial interview on 6/10 (the one where they schedule you for a department interview)

Had my department interview on 6/15 (this interview was with the Food and Beverage Director of the Bellagio)

Drug tust on 6/22

And just sitting and waiting now.....so what do you guys think?

I am starting to get really nervous. I have read all your posts and I still have not been called for a drug test. I applied in February, got an email in march to set up my department interview which I did May 11th and nothing since. I was scheduled to have my hr review done 7/27 but since I already had my department interview and have a score they told me they were skipping the phone interview. My status still shows open and active so I guess that is a good sign. Guess I just need to keep my fingers crossed and hoping. Good Luck to everyone!!!

Sorry I'm just now getting back to you, but after the interview I had a headache and had to rest. Well here we go, I can actually say sitting in the waiting room waiting for my name to be call made me so nervous, but after I was called everything was cool. There were different food and beverage managers there doing the interviews, my interviewer was a female from the food and beverage department. During the interview I was asked questions about myself and my current job. We then went on to discuss the roll of a cocktail server and Aria the casino. I did ask some questions about the hiring process, and she proceed to tell me at this point everyone for cocktails is getting a 2nd department interview, internal will get in before external, and that internal and external applicants can still be denied the position/offer. Everyone is up in the air at this point. I did talk to another person, her interview questions were random..on drinks, customer service, etc.(from some reason she would'nt give me specific questions though, and I tried to get them out of her) hers was kind of like my 1st department interview were I was asked more indepth questions. All in All I thought my interview went well (hope they thought so to ). ? are either of you cocktail servers now at your current job? Well I really hope this help....Please keep me updated on your interview and BEST OF LUCK TO YOU BOTH I will continue to keep you posted on the info I get ok

I am glad your 2nd interview went well. My fingers are crossed!! I currently bartend, but I use to do cocktails in one of the casinos. Well good luck! I will keep you posted once I go to my next interview

So, I guess since the position I applied for is PABX Operator it is then considered enternal?

What she meant by that was that internal employees are the ones that are already working for MGM/Mirage Group and are transfering to City Center. External meaning the employees that currently do not work for the company

Butterfly and Snazzy,
Wow you guys have alot of experience in the field and I think if you already took the drug test then you should be fine and a plus+ for you guys. I havent been drug tested yet.
My first dept. interv. had about 10 questions about customer service,how you would handle things in situations and give examples relating to your previous employment history. What you consider excellent customer service to be........Then some terminology like what is neat?straight up?........Was the 2nd similar to the first or more in depth? Do we need to know alot of Drink recipes? I havent done casino cocktails for a while but would like to get back in to it because I miss the fast pace fun environment and the day goes by faster moving around like snazzy said. You meet quite a lot of interesting people. Truly rewarding when someone tells you they come to your establishment because you're there. Thank you for all your help and keeping us updated! Ok, has anyone on here had more than 2 dept interviews??? I'm talking in person, face-to-face. I'm not counting the phone screening...

It has been a week since my 2nd dept interview (audition) and I have not been called for a drug test. So I did my weekly follow up call to cc. I was told by a guy named "Max" that everything looks good and I need to wait until all the auditions have been completed and processed. He said a drug test was definately the next step (for me), but could not give me any time frame on when that might happen.

He also stated that current MGM employees will be extended an offer in Aug. So if you are "internal" that's great news for you! The rest of us external folks will have to wait until September and he was very firm on that. I kind of feel like my life is on hold at this point:-) But I'm trying to focus on other things. I'll update the board if I hear anything about a drug test. Best wishes!!!
