About a week and a half/two weeks ago, I posted how there were 2 jobs listed on my status page. One of them I applied for back in january, and the other one became available last month. I went through the whole department interviews/drug test dealio.
A week ago, the new position that was available on my status page remained open, while the original one I applied for got cancelled. They are both similar position, except the 2nd one is a bit more refined. I think there was someone else that this happened to on this thread. Anyway, I hope that's a good sign.

Yes, I applied for a position in May. After that I had a pre-screening interview with
Human Resources in June which thought I was a above average candidate. I was
called back for a Department Interview in July, with (Jaime), ie: the Food and Beverage Director from the Bellagio, who was from Argentina, (a very nice lady and
very informative). I interviewed for a long time, afterwards about (2) weeks later
I was called in by Human Resources from a hair, (drug screening). The person in
Human resources said that the (drug screening/and background check), is a final
step in the hiring process/ until management decides in September who they decide
to offer letters of employment offers or rejection letters. Oh, by the way: I applied
for a position as a Room Service Waiter. I hope: EVERYONE GETS A JOB!!!!!

It is a pretty simple process: as I have been thru this before. Management will decide
who will make the best candidates, based on personality, enthusiasm, experience, and the ability to work with other employee's and management. Afterwards they will
only keep the ones who are really 110% and serious about their jobs and get along great with everyone else and do great in their position. (Like the Cruise Ships-which
only keep people who have good qualities and (can keep up the pace of the job), with a smile/and create a positive experience.

I believe that they will try to accomodate a person (ie):shift preference
depending on obligations or try to work with you, since it is all seniority
based from day one. Now, I don't know about male cocktail waiters, :
they have these on cruises as I did that for a short time.

A little information: to (clear up some confusion). I have a friend who has
been at the MGM Grand Hotel for (15) years and was "laid off" from the
MGM. He applied for a position at the city center and "did not have to be
drug tested as a tranferee". Also: (Jaime), the food and beverage Director
from the Bellagio Hotel who interviewed for a position as a Foodserver at
the City Center, ie: "Aria Resort & Casino", asked me if I would consider
working for her at the "Bellagio" which I was delighted too. I "did not" have
a "2nd" department interview at the city center as some people have. This
is probally because I was a former MGM Grand employee in good standing,
and was willing to fill-in for on of the "other" properties owned by MGM/Mirage to replace the employee's who transfer. ie: the: Mirage, Circus Circus, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Signature Resort, Monte
Carlo, etc. So, unfortunately: I know that everyone wants to work at a
"new" higher end resort with "new employee's". But, they will need employee's to consider of working at the other properties, maybe even
stepping down to a lower level position as needed/and being flexible.

When my friend talked to the HR people last month to review his application he was told that there could be other positions available to him at other properties, I wasn't sure if the woman was just pulling his leg or not. Thanks joieboy for posting this, as it gives him hope.
Does anyone know if they have started interviewing for manager positions yet?
