Something for 226 union members to think about when the next contract needs to be negotiated.
I've never worked for a casino before, but it's definately an interesting creature when it's hiring practices resemble the intentional over booking of an airline flight to cover all bases.

Hi Everyone, I've read through some of the pages of this thread and all I can say is 'CONGRATULATIONS" to those of you who applied to MGM/Mirage for City Center and have already been hired. You are already ahead of the game!

And to those of you who are still waiting-be patient and it just might happen for you! Whenever a new property has opened here in town, the process has always taken a longggggggg time, months in some cases. It's quite normal for this to happen so don't be upset over the long drawn out process. I remember reading that CC received over 100,000 applications for 10,000 jobs, unprecedented turn out, so to all of you, hang in there.

This is the opening schedule the news is reporting (Channel 8), I just a KLAS-TV news alert in my email about it.

"CityCenter To Send Out Job Offers Starting Monday
MGM Mirage's CityCenter annouced today that they intend to launch the "single largest hiring effort in the nation" next Monday, September 21st.

The job offers being sent out are the first going to non-MGM Mirage employees.

CityCenter has also annouced the offical opening dates for the project's various properties:

Dec 1 - Vdara Hotel
Dec 3 - Crystals
Dec 4 - Mandarian Oriental
Dec 16 - ARIA Resort and Casino
The various properties of MGM's mega-resort project have been holding job fairs during much of 2009 and began accepting applications in January of this year."

So I am a little confused. I got my call for "Guest Services" (which I assume means Front Desk). When I got the call, I was told what my pay rate would be, where I was in terms of seniority and when my initial job appointment was going to be. As I have read over these other posts, I have some concerns whether I am going to get full time or part time. The call that I recieved didnt mention anything about how many hours I would work. But I see some others on here who were offered jobs with Guest Services where told they had part time.

Does anyone know how I might be able to get clarification?
