The concept of "Northern European" is wrong, since the original people in North Europe were just the same people that constitute the majority in Great Britain, Alpines...they are the people living in England and Ireland during the last 8.000 years.
Saxons were invaders, just a drop of water in British genetic pool, more so taking in account that Normans did not like them at all and sent them packing everywhere, in current day Turkey there was a city called New York founded 800 years ago by the Saxons, Normans annihilated them.glgl
Well they are definitely not Alpines. This is an anthropoligical term

..the Alpine race is thick-set and broad. The average height of the Alpine man is about 1.63 metres. This small height is brought about by the relatively short, squat legs. This broadness and shortness is repeated in all the details: in the broadness of the hand and its short fingers, in the short, broad feet, in the thick, short calves.

Isn't this for central Europeans. Not that I place much stock in some of these old anthropology terms. We have genetics now anyway.

Alpine race - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Genetically the Swedes have appeared relatively similar to their neighboring populations - for example the Norwegians, Danish, Germans, Dutch and British - both in a classical study based on a small number of autosomal markers [11] and in the recent genome-wide studies [1]-[6], [12]. Similar patterns of a close relationship with neighboring populations have been observed in the Y-chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variation [13]. In contrast, the Finns seem to be an exception to this rule: they do not appear genetically very close to the Swedes although they are geographically nearby. However, the Finns tend to show inflated genetic distances relative to the European populations in general [1], [4], [6], not only relative to the Swedes.

You need to be educated on anthropology for your own good. Before you discuss terms such as Alpines, Nordics,etc... get more information, O.K. These are words of advice. The Alpine race is quite rare or was found virtually absent in Britain, it is a Central European racial type of medium to dark complexion, round skulled and short to medium stature. It's centered in France, southern Germany, Austria, Switzerland goes all the way to Eastern Europe. Today it has no importance due to the progress of genetical studies which are much more accurate. It's the 21st century now, you're still stuck up with those theories. [/quote]

The British are what they are, a Northwestern European people. Genetically as expected cluster with other Northwestern European populations, . In this I mean, native white Britons, of course as in every nation there are immigrants too no surprise.

Actually Traveler I didn't claim this at all, read my post again :-)

Agreed. Btw the number of (mostly copyrighted) people images is insane. It sometimes helps the discussion, but that much is overkill. And please credit the photos when you post!
